Lake Tomahawk was always known as a tourist attraction because of its lakes and gorgeous scenery. In 1961, Town Chairman, Ray Sloan, wanted to give summer tourists and residents another source of entertainment so he invited other area teams to challenge the hometown squad to games in the summer months, replacing the usual snow-covered field with saw chips.

This summer marks the 51st year of this sport. We will again be having a picture taking session with the players 30 minutes before each game.
Games are played every Monday evening at 7:30 beginning with the starting contest set for June 18 and concluding August 27 which is the annual benefit for the Lakeland Food Pantry. The July 4th game will again feature the Chicago All-Star team. The stands at Snowshoe Park provide an excellent view of the town fireworks which follow the holiday contest. One of the most entertaining evenings is the N.R.G. media game on July 23 when fans can enjoy the antics of area TV, radio and newspaper personalities. The Jack and Jill coed game is on August 20 – a real fan-pleaser as well.

We do not charge admission but a butterfly net is passed throughout the stands during mid-game. The proceeds provide the program with revenue used for expenses as well as the organization’s ability to help out area community needs.
A concession stand is available on the grounds and is sponsored by the following area service clubs: Lions, Lioness, Legion and Legion Auxiliary, Circle of Women, Sno-fleas Snowmobile Club, Lake Tomahawk Bible Church and the Lake Tomahawk Volunteer Fire Department. Food is available beginning at 5:15 p.m. for the convenience of residents and visitors to the area. The menu includes brats, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sodas and coffee. You won’t be able to resist the vast array of homemade pies to top off your meal. The Lakeland Girls’ Track Team operates a popcorn machine each game which fits right in with the co-announcers’ seventh-inning rendition of “Take me out to the Ballgame”.

For further information contact Manager Don Hilgendorf at either 715-277-2554 or 715-482-3349.

Games played every Monday night June 20 to August 29, @ 7:30 pm.
Concession stand opens at 5:30 pm with food and soft drinks.

Games are always posted on this web site so check the event calendar. You can also participate in on-line discussions HERE.
